Water temp dropped from 45 to 41, but i almost seemed to make the smallmouth bite better. They were stacked in a few small areas, but 30-35 feet of water seemed to be the key.

bought the rod to use on small jigs and Neds instead of a spinning rod. works well with a Shimano 70MGL with 15lbs braid and a leader. can replace a spinning rod easily.

Today was a pretty tough fishing day for perch in a small derby. With that being said, I believe that the lake Trout are really disturbing the perch and their behavior. I launched out of the Penn Yan branch, and the channel was about 46-48 degrees. The main body of the lake is still at about 36-38 degrees. When I did find a school of perch, it was really tough to get a bite and it was sporadic between perch and lake trout being caught. Seems like everything is relating to a piece of off-shore structure, whether it be a boulder or otherwise.

The water is still very cold 36-37 degrees, and the perch are still very deep. I was able to see some very big female perch starting to pull up a little shallower about 20-25 foot on the Aqua Vu camera. Fishing was still pretty tough, but its getting better. The drop shot for sure seems to the most productive presentation.

Water Temps are on the rise and the big largemouth are moving up. Its not easy, but if you can trick a largemouth into biting they are big. I beat my Personal best today by a 1/2oz. 7 lbs 1/2oz
