Cold cold day! Found a school suspended in about 19 fow. Were extremely aggressive at first and hit my ripping rap hard! After a few hours things slowed down and continued to catch them on spoons.

Windy and cold today. Started off the day throwing jigs where the lily pads usually are. There's old stems n stuff there that they seemed to be relating to. Caught a few on the jig and switched over to a shallow crankbaits. I actually didn't expect to get bit on cranks in 39 degree water so I threw it around for fun. Turns out reaction was the ticket. Caught several more. Finally got to try the new Shimano Mastiff FC. So far so good. I'm a longtime sunline user, but the Mastiff really did it's job today. First impression, it's got the best of both Sniper and Shooter. Manageable and limp line sniper, sensitive and strong like shooter. Knot strength seemed good so far as well.

Water is still a bit cool. It had thawed and beautiful. No bites after 3 hours.

Water was the warmest I found today. Fish were surprisingly close to shore. Went parallel to the bank while tossing spinnerbaits shallow and managed to catch several within an hour or two.

Fit in a trip before the rain. Pretty windy so I started with a spinnerbait. Cruised down the shoreline and caught quite a few decent ones. Majority of them were very tight against the reeds or any wood cover I found. Wind died down and spinnerbait bite shut off. Proceeded to drag a jig around in deeper water and picked off a few more before the rain came.
