Came out as the storms were finishing up which left the conditions as overcast with occasionally sun in between. Dropshotting around the perimeter of the center island where the ledge drop off points were was one of the way to go. Bluegill schools were in-between the shallows and drop offs. Otherwise, we also had good success throwing Texas Rigged senkos into the weedy alcoves in the corners of the lake. Good number of bass hiding inside the matted vegetation but it was not too thick where you would need to flip into.

No photo, but have a release video. It was a tough day over there at Hyland. But nothing is stopping me from catching a decent bass. Today was also first day of bass opener. Had and thrown a fluke all day and was working it the bottom dragging it or worked as a normal soft roll plastic jerkbait.

Look for the rock piles on the west side of the lake. Be careful! It's' very shallow. The big mamas are there! Casted and just did a steady retrieve on a 6:1 gear ratio reel. Caught a few 3 pounders, and the biggest was 4 pounds 10 ounces. I was here on catch and release opener 5/13/2023.
