Water temps 82-85. Water clarity 2-3ft. The bass right now are stacked up near the dam pushing bait. Though there is a majority of them eating shad the bluegill are what I’m matching. Bluegill are much bigger meals for the bass and are much more nutritious. The Megabass z2 is a great bluegill pattern and it dives a bit deeper than a traditional squarebill. I highly advise using 10-12lb flourocarbon for maximum depth.

Current water temps are 82-86 and the water clarity is anywhere from 2-4ft. I was throwing my DT 10’s down onto rock piles and getting a ton of bites. I wasn’t burning it through like I normally do though. I was slowing down my retrieve and sometimes speeding it up suddenly. The fish would bite any shad presentation I threw at them. My 12lb Seaguar AbrazX stood up to the rocks all day long! Good luck

We’re coming up on a great time of year to target Smallies on Grapevine. Find your favorite rocky points or rip rap and go slow roll a red crank bait down it. My favorite is the Spro Rock Crawler 55 MED diver (9-14ft). Not many baits search like this one!

Grapevine is very tough in the summer time if you do not know how to locate fish. There are thousands of brush piles in the lake but finding them and throwing the right cast is the difference between catching fish and skunking. Use your electronics to find brush piles and line up your casts. The War Eagle finesse jig is a staple among guys that do well on lake Grapevine. It has a small compact profile that fish can’t resist. Make sure to let it soak in the brush piles. I have let my jig sit totally still for 3 minutes before getting bit. Let your trailer do the work. I like the Mini D Chunk when it is cloudy or with a little wind. I bring the Berkley Meaty Chunk out when the sun is high. Good luck out there!
