Lots of schools out there finding the right ones is the key, keep moving till you land on them. Also go fish on LV 500, underspins and the dropshot. Rotated 6 mid lake spots.

Boat is in the shop so headed out to back seat it for the day. We spent about 6 hours on the water. Throwing a keitech 3.8 in bluegill flash on a basstrix 3/8oz underspin got my first fish in the boat. Came off an isolated rock pile in about 10' of water. The rest of my fish for the day came on fishing gravel patches and points outside/near spawning flats in 2-12' of water with most bites coming in 3-8' on a Carolina rig with a Hayabusa WRM 956 3/0 and a Zman Hula Stikz in GP. Conditions throughout the day were fluid. i.e. mixed clouds, sunny slight breeze with up to 1' chop on the lake maybe more in some areas.Definitely a key was the rod I used. A custom made ALX Powerbolt. The powerbolt seems overpowered on paper but is perfect for c-rigs. It is sensitive, long to aid in hooksets and loads up well into the blank to keep the fish pinned with that heavy weight flopping around as well as from keeping the traditionally lighter wire carolina rig hooks from bending out. A real uniqe rod for sure. A non-custom Powerbolt would work as well.

Lipless and square bills on rock. Fishing was great and should only get better. Best 5 went 31# with a 8.15# kicker.

Pilings
Got up for the weekend to The Cabin on Clearlake to enjoy a little time away, visits with family and friends, and of course a little time to throw at the water. A few others from our small community were getting their lines wet also. I did a lil fishing off of our pier and only fished the two adjacent piers but managed to pick up a nice one at 4.69#. Made me happy, probably my heaviest fish along this stretch for me this year, as its been a bit tough along here and there truly isn't much for structure besides the dock pilings. Not a very big fish but really well fed. Though my neighbor "Texas Rigged Mark" was getting a few on the neon green tailed worm as always, it was the Jerkbait once again that got it done for me. Its been my go to along here this year. The bell rang once on the nightcrawler setup for Catfish but we missed that one. Oh well. All in all it was a lot of fun for a few short hours on the beach with friends hanging out, tipping beers and tossing line off the community pier. Oh, how I love this lake.
