Fish were hiding under matted grass especially when there was algae over it, so I would cast my bait parallel to those lines. The fish would come out of the cover and eat it, a lot of the time you'd actually see the fish bite.

Fishing the deeper water yeilded me a few bites, I threw my creature bait on an unpegged Texas rig and the fish were eating it on the fall.

Pitching the jig around the edges of mats was really effective for me, a lot of fish were under there because those mats create shade.

Casting a pitching around grass edges in the deeper parts of the lake was really effective in the late afternoon. Fish were near the edges of the grass, not too far in
