Fish were pushed up on shallow mud flats and future lillypad fields. Some working on bedding, many roaming in and around huge schools of mixed panfish. Wacky stick baits managed to entice a few, but a fluke style worked better to pull in active fish and draw interest from more passive ones. Also managed a few post spawners and bonus pike in nearby areas with fresh weed growth on shallow cranks and hard jerkbaits.

Water temps fluctuated between 66-68, fish were few, far and in between with best fishing weighing just north of 3 lbs. all fish were caught on a swim jig fished around whatever structure I find.

Caught this big guy on a 1/2 ounce 2 and 3/4 inches dark sleeper mutsuhoru color and was just hopping it on the grass and through it making it look like it was injured baitfiah or a baitfish fleeing away

Fished from 10am-4pm but fish seemed to be harder to find as the day got warmer. I tried moving baits(chatter bait, jerk bait) early on where I could see baitfish jumping but quickly switched to a drop shot and got some fish early. After that, it was a grind as bites were hard to come by. Best fish was a 2.75lber on a weightless texas rigged senko later in the day. Best spots seemed to be in the 10-20ft range where the submerged weeds taper off.

Millfoil is filling in and slop is thick so bring your big sticks. Picking at the weed edges and flipping into holes in the slop pulled out a few fish, but had the best luck looking for schools of bluegill that were sunning a few feet into open water outside of weed edges; bass were hanging out below them. Some could be coaxed up to hit a stop and go topwater, but dropping a texas rig (either worm or creature, both worked) through the bluegill swarm and into the bass's face was more repeatable.

Biggest fish of the day came on a swim jig working wind blown weed edges, but the most consistent bite came from following mega schools of baitfish feeding high in the water column just outside of weed edges. Pitching a drop shot just outside the schools was usually enough to entice some of the bass lurking below the swarm.
