Spawning season and the algae are slowly coming back due to the sunlight. The chatter bait was the perfect bait to float above the submerged plants and this 4lber came and smashed it

Was tossing it near laydowns and thought I had a snag because it was a very subtle pick up. Then tried getting the snag out and my line started moving to the left and then 5 minutes later a 6.25lb large mouth blackbass ready for spawn!

Still a tough bite. We only had 2 hits all day. Fishing wacky, Texas, spinners, jigs, nothing. Did a lot of searching all around Franks and Whiskey. Water looks good and it’s spawning temp but we saw no beds.

Storm was blowing in with 20-25 mph winds. Very slow presentation. Dragging all baits. Caught 5 fish. Biggest fish was 3lbs. Water clarity was 1-2 feet.

Was using this berkley power bait in the pink color instead of chartreuse fishing for crappie but instead got lucky enough the largemouth could not resist!

Fished all the conditions for the day. The most productive was drop shot. Liking the Shimano mastiff so far as a leader material. Seems to hold up well in heavy cover. Caught em on blades/chatterbait and flippin as well.
