Slow day on Watab today. Was out from 11 am -5 pm. No bites until around 2:30. A few really big sunnies and a couple big crappies interspersed. No trout caught today, but did catch 2 small pike on tip ups (using suckers). Was primarily jigging a gold flutter spoon and other color variations tipped with a wax worm. Also had just a small clam jig tipped with a wax worm, but they seemed to like the flutter spoon better. Caught fish in 12-18 feet of water. Will definitely be getting out for a morning bite this week to see if the time of day changes the bite. An extremely clear lake, spear fishermen everywhere, and in the shack you can see to the bottom sitting in 20 feet of water. Sitting on one spot and letting fish roll in worked out much better than trying to hole-hop.

      Humps

Much better day out on Big Watab today. Was out from 1 pm - 7 pm. Still relatively slow, mainly fishing for crappies. But got on a decent sunny bite and ended up keeping 8 sunnies and 4 crappies. No crappies caught till 5 pm. Caught a few bass and small pike as well. Mainly in 17 feet of water on main lake points and humps. Caught all on different colored clam flutter spoons tipped with either a crappie minnow or wax worm. Using a medium light st. Croix mojo ice rod with a 13 fishing thermo ice fishing reel.

      Humps

Got on to some rainbows in the morning. Caught around 10 in 2 hours from 8-10 am. They bite anything but mostly like the shiny stuff in my opinion. Caught on a gold forage minnow and wonder bread forage minnow. Sat on one spot in 15 feet of water and was jigging from 4-12 feet below the ice. Biggest one that was caught was 18 inches, and the smallest was around 10 inches.

      Humps

Caught trout on something different than normal. Lipless crankbaits were working early this morning from 5-9 am. Sitting in 15 feet, off the edge of the hump in the photo. Jigging high in the water column from 4-7 feet down. The bright colors seemed to work the best. Barely jigging it as well. Just slight twitches.

      Open Water/Basin

Back up at school after spring break and got out to catch more trout. Bite window only lasted 2 hours this morning between 6-8 am. Sitting in 60 feet of water fishing only 4-10 feet below the ice. Later in the winter the trout tend to move off shallow points and flats. Using a larger version of the flutter spoon pictured in the hot bait section in the wonder bread color. Caught 6 total, but saw way more than that. They were extremely finicky.
