Had a good time on Benbrook during the Kayak Bass Fishing Trinity River System Trail. Fish are in the spawn and boy are there some giants to be caught. I found success targeting bedding bass using a texas rigged Zoom UV speed worm. Most of the beds I found were along cutbanks or a steep drop and near laydowns or overhanging vegetation, deep in the back of creeks.

The best way to catch fish here in the summertime is to chase the early morning cruisers up shallow with a white chatter bait as they corner baitfish up on the bank. As they move deeper in the day, you can find them on standing timber hugging them tightly. Flip these trees in deeper water and as it falls watch your line. If they don't hit on the fall, they will hit at the base of the tree. That is how I caught this 7lb giant pictured here.

Bigs are still moving up to spawn in some areas of the lake. Flipping mid to shallow stick ups was key. Most fish were in the back of pockets or creek mouths, not quite back to main lake for early spawn era just yet.
