Very active day with tons sailboat and recreational paddlers. Vegetation was thick and abundance. Interestingly, the lagoon was completely full of crappies; but not many were interested in biting on this warm day. Most were just suspending around structure in the water. We did manage to get a few from smaller 1/64oz jigs. Bluegills were also abundant along the shorelines and within the weeds. Most were of good size! Outside the weed lines and along the depth transitions were often pikes stalking the area. Chatterbaits was very successful for us and we ended up with quite a few within the 22" - 30" size.

The Large Mouth Bass and Northern Pike were killing the chatterbaits the other night. Run it over weeds and yank them through and you will get strikes. Also, the bass were hitting Haddon Baby Torpedos. It was 8-9PM in June with about 7mph winds. We were fishing wind swept shorelines right at the weedline 16ft casting in to the shallows.

Fishing a light Texas rig in grass growing in 9-15’ yielded a couple good bites including a four pounder. Find clean grass with bluegills around and make sure to slow down and completely pick apart the area.
