Look for the outside weed edge and keep it fairly compact, hence why I like the 3/8oz vs 1/2oz swim jigs. For a trailer I really like the Berkley Grass Pig 3 1/2inch in Pearl White/Silver Fleck.

Reel snot was super important in keeping guides, line, and reels ice free in the sub 32 degree air temps. Fishing steep edges in 10 to 15 ft of water. Once fish were found then you would catch 10+ in that spot.

Ledges
Largemouth were in 15-18' just off the ledges during the day, and came in to the shallow areas during the evening. Dragging a ned rig down the steep drop-offs produced quite a few largemouth.

Points
Deep weed line points with some sand and rock mixed in if you can find them. Let it soak and you will find them popping out of the weed line can even trigger a bite. Will have to sort trough rock bass and pike but you will come across come good largemouth.
