This lake has been filled with brush piles. Target them with your Chatterbaits in Perch or Sunfish colors. You can find fish over the top of the brush and by dropping and dragging along the sides of these piles.

Fish were sitting in the brush piles on the few points that Bass Lake has. Texas rig was the best way to drop down in them. Water was cold and very inactive fish. Slowly worked all cribs to find a few bites.

Fish early in the spring are hiding in the many cribs Bass Lake has off most all secondary points. Flipping a non pegged Texas rigged Rage Craw or Rage Bug produced several good strikes. Pop the bait through the cribs to find the largemouth.

The smaller males have started to pull into the shallows in the smaller bays where the water has warmed up to almost 50 degrees. They was 100’s of bass and Bluegill under the float vegetation. Hit the pockets with a wacky worm in 6 inches to 4 feet of water. Bigger fish will be pulling up soon when that warm breaks 55 degrees.

Report is for May 5th. Weather was variable with light winds, kind of on and off sprinkles and partly sunny. Found bucks up in the warmest water, but no larger females. Headed out a bit deeper near some weeds and found some better fish in the 12 to 15 inch range, but not larger fish found this day. Overall about 10 small fish on a 5inch floating rapala minnow and then about 10 larger fish on a Jackhammer in Bhite Delight, they were definitely keying on sunfish. It was fast and furious on the jackhammer after I headed out a little deeper. Seemed like for the females it was still prespawn.

Find big drops of 15 to 20 feet. There are minimal cribs and pallets down there. Also, work the weed lines. There are walleyes but not many. Fish wacky worms and drop shots. It's a good ice fishing lake.
