At first I tied on a black and blue chatterbait from Kastking but I do recommend a Zman jackhammer. What I did was cast out and immediately start to slow reel it in. If bass see it or feel they will chase and come and eat it, you will feel your line getting heavy is so and you know it’s a fish, hookset. If chatterbait bite gets slow I just have a 3# size ewg hook and a 5 1/2 inch fluke from Zoom. Just cast as far as possible and jig or drag it on the floor or on top of those weeds. Look at your line and keep it tight. Once you feel or see your line moving something got and hookset.

I found some Largemouth holding tight to the bank, mostly around the reeds. Fish were eating the small swim jig package well in 1-3' ft of water. I would imagine they will be making beds soon but all the fish I caught were prespawn. In the afternoon the water, in the shallows, warmed up to mid-60's.
