A lot of activity in the shallows as the season began and the water started warming up. Wife threw her tried and true method of ned rigs—open hook and Texas rigged as needed for the weeds. For the latter, we generally prefer the EWG mushroom jig hooks rather than the regular ones with weedguards because we found it to be much more effective rigging it similar to traditional Texas Rig on EWG hook. After a few catches, she ended up throwing one right into the tree branch and on the retrieve, she hit a solid LMB and ended up jumping into the water to help the fish and free her line! 😂

Tough day at 90 degrees right before the storms coming in for the weekend. Not much (if any) bites until we got further past the the midway point along the peninsula and pitched into the matted weeds along the coast line. From there, it was game on! Several bass hiding within the vegetation. Wife also had plenty of luck with jerkbaits on the other side of the lake where there were more fallen trees/branches from surrounding homes.
