Fishing Report – Little Caney Creek, Sam Rayburn Reservoir Date: January 29, 2025 Conditions & Water Temp: Fishing in the Little Caney Creek section of Sam Rayburn Reservoir today was slow but steady, with water temperatures sitting at 58.6°F. Conditions were a bit tough, but patience paid off. Catch Details: Landed four bass, with the biggest weighing 3 lbs 9 oz. The bite wasn’t aggressive, so finesse was key. Tactics & Lures: • The most productive technique was using a weightless worm, letting it sink naturally before adding a few subtle twitches to create movement. • The bites were light and spaced out, requiring a slow and methodical approach. Final Thoughts: Bass seemed lethargic, likely due to cooler water temps, but a finesse presentation proved effective. Not the most action-packed day, but still a solid outing on Sam Rayburn. As temperatures start to warm, expect the bite to gradually improve. Would recommend sticking to slow-moving presentations and targeting areas with deeper structure until fish become more active. Tight lines! 🎣

Throwing Rapala jerkbaits over brush piles in 10-15 feet of water. Brush piles were just outside of major spawning areas that the bass were staged on waiting to pull in. Few on grass lines in similar areas as well.

Found some decent fish flipping a blck/blue craw in standing timber in 2-5' of water. Rayburn has had a lot of water coming in and they are pullinjg it back down causing a lot of the lake to be muddy or stained at best. I found these fish in muddy water.

Caught a ton of little fish and broke off one good one. Most came on points leading to spawning coves. Threw the Senko weightless, which seemed to do the best. The rattle trap was used sporadically but seemed to only catch smaller fish. It was very overcast and windy all day.

Flipping grass last Sunday, managed to put 5 in the boat and cull once between 12-2pm. Bite was fast and furious. Fish in my area were EXTREMELY close to spawning. Dirt shallow. I would bet this weekend or next it will be full blown spawn all day everyday.
